We got up again to marionberry jam on English muffins and the pigs. There are too pigs and I like the hairier one better, because it was more friendly and the other one was always pushing him around. Papa came to see the pigs this time, and we brought them a ton of bananas and bread scraps.

Then we were off. We went past Lake Crescent, but first we stopped at a place called Grocery Outlet that Mama and Papa kept saying how great it was and that they went there a lot when they lived in Portland. We got some cherries to add to our snacks.

We had to drive pretty far into the woods to get to the Sol Duc trailhead, and when we got there it was chilly and sunny. We all needed to use the bathroom, and they had one of those composting toilets and those are the worst bathrooms ever. They stink so much.

But the woods did not stink.

It was a pretty easy hike, and the falls were pretty. They water was pretty low since the snowfall had not been very much this year. The falls were in a deep crevasse and there was a bridge over it.
Right when we started on the trail, we spotted a centidped or milipede, and watched it so it got safely across the path. Papa helped me move it the last little bit across the path.

We saw people going really close, and Papa and Wylder hiked on a bit past the falls on the trail, but we couldn’t follow that trail since it was too long for my foot.

We were pretty grumpy on the way back, so we skipped going to the local Nature Center, and Mama, Wylder, and I went to the stinkiest creamery i will ever encounter. They were serving ice cream, which was good, but right behind it was a huge barn filled with cows and they stunk which was bad. We stopped by the baby cow pens to pet them, but the stink got too much so we left.

Mama: This was a raw milk creamery, and they had maybe a dozen calves each in their own pen, with shade, outside next to a seating area. Which, in turn, was right across from a barn….a big barn. FULL OF COWS. Now, the ice cream was great, and it was chilly but we were ready to eat our cones while cooing at calves, but I kid you not, we lasted less than five minutes when the wind changed.

After that we went to the closest beach, which was right across from one of the longest spits in the world. A spit is a very narrow piece of land that juts out into the bay or sound. At the end there was a lighthouse, and we could have gone out on the spit, but it was time to get Papa and go shopping for some extra layers for our exciting outing the next day.
Papa needed pants, because he only brought shorts. Mama wanted another layer, and my sweatshirt was wet and we had nowhere to wash it so we tried finding another.

papa got dress slacks, which Mama laughed and laughed at, mama got a really cool black sweatshirt with a sun and a moon on it, and i got a really nice hoodie that was purple with a picture of lavender on it. it also had the words Sequim,WA printed on it.

We were all cozy, and we went to eat at a local Hawaiian BBQ place. The food was good. Wylder got to have shrimp again which he was excited about. We were all so tired, we went home, got clean, and warm, and went to bed. We had to get up very very early to be on time for our Salish Sea adventure the next day – A WHALE WATHCING TOUR! And a special yummy treat on board….
